When doing yoga you want to make sure you align your spine based on your particular curve pattern.
In our classes, we make sure you move into your yoga poses exactly the way your back needs.
In our classes for people with Scoliosis (sideways curve of the spine), we work on lengthening the spine and strengthening supporting muscles in the back and legs. We will also realign posture and find the body's center when standing in daily life and practicing yoga poses.
Group classes are held every Tuesdays from 10:30-11:30am and Fridays from 8:45-9:45am. Sign up for Yoga for Scoliosis here.
It is recommended to have an initial one on one meeting to find out your exact curve pattern.
Private Scoliosis Yoga sessions are available by appointment info@mountdiabloyoga.com
What our scoliosis students say

At the recommendation of my orthopedist at UCSF, I have been searching for a yoga instructor who specialized in Scoliosis. The only instructor the doctor would recommend was Elise Browning Miller, all the way out on the Peninsula. I tried to work with other yoga instructors who claimed they understood Scoliosis, but after a few sessions, I would end up in pain. A friend suggested Monique, and I figured that she was like all the rest, but I was SO wrong! Monique is truly amazing and not only does she understand Scoliosis, but she was actually trained by the same teacher , Elise, who my orthopedist recommended years ago! Monique has been incredible! She has helped me understand my curve and has taught me how to strengthen and stretch correctly for my back issues. I look forward to each and every session and I can't imagine practicing yoga without Monique by my side, literally. My only regret is that I didn't know about her earlier. Thank you, Monique for always being there for me. - Jill J.
“Remember doing yoga is not to strive to make your body perfect, but it is a process of remapping the body to find better balance and alignment”
